Young Guru Speaks On Piracy, Invention and Sampling (Video)

Posted by Obese on Jan 16

The man behind the clean sound Jay-Z has given us over the years took his talents to Pop Tech where he discussed the importance of "piracy" in Hip-Hop and how it has actually paved the way for the culture. It's an interesting way of looking at things and it sure makes you think. Is it a remix or is it piracy? Below, he gives us an example of "piracy" in the form of invention as he borrows samples from Bobby Blue Bland to recreate the sound on Jay-Z's Heart Of The City. What you call piracy we call art. Enough said.
