No Limit Records took over the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Master P was the driver behind the tank that carried the No Limit Soldiers.

The era of No Limit was unstoppable because it was such a force. The family bond kept everyone together but what helped them sustain was the hard work that each person put into the growth of No Limit.

During the 90’s, there was a mixture of music that was in rotation on the streams. But No Limit artist had a specific sound that other artist didn’t have. Being from New Orleans, No Limit had a different sound that wasn’t matched.

The roster for was Silkk the Shocker, C-Murder, Mia X, and Mystikal.

Master P’s “Make em Say Ugh” is a song that still gets people hype in 2016 and Usher recently sampled it in his son that is ironically named “No Limit”.  “How You Do That” is also another song that was timeless as far as lyrics and sound.

Mystikal had his own specific rap style, some people would say he is the originator of the mumbled verses. His songs “Danger” and “Shake It Fast” are some of his most recognizable songs. But his song “Bouncing Back” had a unique New Orleans vibe because of the street band. It included horns, bass drums and horns and that was different for a Hip-Hop song.

The 504 Boyz was a group with most of the No Limit artist. The 504 Boyz created bounce/twerk songs like “wobble, Wobble”, and “I Can Tell”.  Those songs were lively but still hood anthems. They definitely brought bounce music to the mainstream audience.

Master P understood that he had to take everything to the next level, he produced and stared in his own film. In 2000, the movie “Hot Boyz” was released. It starred Silkk the Shocker, Snoop Dogg, C-Murder, himself and more.

C-Murder career was cut short because he was convicted for homicide. But his song, “Down For My N” still lives on at college parties when Divine 9 Greek life Strolls.

No Limit has a legacy and continues to build.

Master P is coming to be the keynote speaker on Friday, October 7th at 4:30 for There is No Limit A3Conversation with Master P. On October 9th, Master P’s No Limit Boys & Friends will headline the main stage at A3C’s Festival grounds. Mystikal, Silkk The Shocker, Snootie Wild, Rico Richie and surprise guest will perform.
