A3C Interviews: Your Favorite Artist's Favorite Promoter

Posted by IsabelleAhanotu on Aug 4

Fadia Kader has been a staple in Atlanta hip hop for more than half a decade. Her partnership with A3C has brought some of the greatest up and coming artists from all over the nation to the south including J. Cole, Freddie Gibbs, Kidz In the Hall, and Curren$y. This year will be excitedly no different. A3C talks with her about expectations for this year's festival, Atlanta hip hop, and what makes her bring good music throughout the peach state.

Full Name: Fadia Kader

City: Atlanta by way of the World.

Age: A woman doesn't share her age

Occupation: Creative Consultant

Iz'E Ahanotu: What about Atlanta makes it a great location for a hip hop festival?
Fadia Kader: It's the music hub of the south , why not have a hip hop festival?

IA: How did the partnership w/ A3C come about and how long has the relationship been?
FK: This is my second year. Brian Knott and I have been familiar with one another and it only made sense that A3C embraced this new age of hip hop, the internet bloggers and younger crowd. The rest is history. Here we are.

IA: Why did you become a promoter?
FK: I was tired of people always calling me asking what was going on in the city and hosting parties for free for some of these other promoters Now of course I indirectly market what I have going on at the time.

IA: Where did the concept for the Perfect Attendance showcase come from?
FK: Intially back in 2007, to showcase the wonderful emerging talents such as Janelle Monae, Hollyweerd, Proton, Yelawolf and many more. 2009 and beyond, to guide new artist on what is important when pursuing a career in music. That it goes beyond having a mixtape, featured on a blog and being locally cool and somewhat respected. It's about building an empire and a brand, starting with Fans.

IA: How does it feel to provide so many opportunities for new artists through your events?

FK: It's a gift and a curse. I'm honored that so many have used the platform I have created to elevate in their careers, but at the same time I'm not the Indie Artist Fairy God-Mother.

IA: What is the most important thing you want to result from the showcases you produce?
FK: To properly introduce artist from all over the US to the Atlanta market. To be ahead of the curve on who will be the "IT" artist before the first quarter and genuinely provide a "Creme De la Creme" platform of pure talent.

IA: Will there be any changes to this year's showcase based on last year's feedback?
FK: Not really. My concept is pretty solid and there are new artist daily. My mission is to keep it as fresh as possible and truly introduce new artists, no repeats. Although it is hard, because I'm such a fan of some of the artists I had last year and want to bring them back, but it doesn't make sense with the concept of the stage.
IA: What is it about hip hop that you feel you have to make things happen for the artists and community?
FK: It's more about Atlanta truthfully. It's important for me to showcase that we can be more than a "club appearance" city. We are a live music destination and a city that embraces new artists. I started with hip hop just because that's what's missing.

What would you like to see happen at A3C this year?
Truthfully I'm already seeing it. Growth. I'm proud of the hard work we put in and what we are doing for the city of Atlanta and the southeast region.

IA: How do you plan on staying one of the top promoters in the South?

FK: Always adding a personal touch.

The Perfect Attendance showcase will feature artists from all four regions of the US. Catch more than fifty artists at A3C Hip Hop Festival 2010, Oct 7-9!!!
