Joyner Lucas is rising in the ranks, so it’s only right that he made an appearance on HotNewHipHop’s “On The Come Up” series.
In his interview, the Massachusetts native gives us a look behind the mic. He touches on topics like growing up without a lot of opportunities in Weston, what inspires his songwriting, the importance of perfecting your craft, making genuine connections with fans, and he even disputes comparisons to Maryland rapper Logic.
The interview follows his appearance at Brooklyn’s Union Pool as part of Heineken’s Green Room showcase Tuesday night. The intimate setting allowed Lucas to make everyone feel special, and he did just that, giving a fan the hat off his head and bringing others on stage to recite his lyrics. He bared his soul on stage and reminisced on the days when all he could think about was making a come up, then also announced that a track from his latest project 508-507-2209, “FYM,” wil be featured on the Madden 2018 soundtrack.
The come up is definitely real. Joyner Lucas will be performing live at A3C Oct. 8, so make sure you cop a ticket!
