The Brooklyn sensation Desiigner gave a high-energized performance of his #1 platinum single “Panda” this past Sunday on the BET Awards. Since breaking on the scene as the fresh new face of New York, Desiigner has broken down many barriers for his ability to always bring the energy. Despite being a natural “Turnt Monster”, it's safe to say that his performance at the BET Awards was sub par at that. Don’t get me wrong he definitely brought the energy to his performance, but it seemed a little too much of an unorthodox, uncoordinated act of hypeness. If you’ve seen previous performances of the MC you can tell that his performance routine is pretty redundant and produces the same outcome whether it be from his over use of the dab dance on every other beat drop or the awkward muttering of the Panda chorus while randomly throwing the microphone in the air while running through the crowd.
There are a lot of mixed reviews in regards to how Desiigner performed during his breakout moment at the BET Awards but at least he wasn’t scared of being in the limelight and enjoyed himself to the fullest. If anything his performance gave social media the time of their lives with all the new memes revolving around his wild dance moves and facial expressions. It’s will be interesting to see where the newest GOOD Music signee will take his rap career to next.
Will he be able to capitalize off of all the media attention he’s received with his newest project “New English” or will he go down in history as one of the best one-hit wonders this decade has ever seen?
