holyvent_web_1-642x361-1.jpgPeriscope and Facebook Live have opened the social media experience to a new degree of interacting with people from around the globe. Live streaming has conveniently made concerts and conferences on the opposite coast viewable  for loved ones who couldn’t attend graduation to be able to see their family member cross the stage.

Live streaming has been out since the days of U-Stream but with the advances in apps and social media, it has become more accessible. There are some people who use live streaming as a way to vent to the masses but there are other benefits to using this savvy way of communicating.

Live streaming is simply an equation of sharing, exposure, and interaction equals audience.

Periscope has become a hub for life coaches, bloggers, motivational speakers, entrepreneurs, aspiring artist and more.

There is a vast amount of information floating around on the “scopesphere”, a nickname given to the app. Scopers broadcast about their expertise on a specific skill(s), technology, upcoming music releases, favorite dishes to cook and everything in between. The app also allows users to display their location so viewers from around the world can tune into their broadcast. This expands viewership to a global level, which can mean supporters from across the world. It also allows people to open up to discuss their opinions on trending topics and current events.

Since scopes delete after 24 hours, it adds on a sense of urgency for viewers to watch the replay.

Facebook Live is more for interacting with your friend list and it’s more personal. It’s a great resource  if a FB fan page needs to be updated and it can be shared for days after the original broadcast.

Live streaming makes viewers feel like they are involved and also receiving somewhat of a behind the scenes experience. This has taken music festivals like Lollapalooza, Hot 97 Summer Jam and Made in America to the computer screens of people who may not have the means of making it to the concert.

Music artists can play clips of unreleased songs while streaming live in the studio. Using tactics like this will make the audience become interested in what else the artist has to offer. Radio stations have been using Periscope and FB Live as a way to bring their listeners into the station for special contest and even for interviews with celebrities.

Live streaming is definitely beneficial to those who use it to build and strengthen their audience. Have fun live streaming!
