Key producers in the music industry gave insight to what it takes to make it in this game. The New Atlanta Producer Panel featured appearances from Izze The Producer, Black Metaphor, Producer manager Rico Brooks, BWheezy, D Rich, and was moderated by iStandard Senior V.P Ciz.Young Producers were able to gain knowledge from these pioneers in ways to enhance their sound and get their music to the masses. Izze The Producer said, “In this industry it’s all about being in the right place at the right time.”
Black Metaphor shared his story on getting his career started, “All I did was work and utilizing my relationships. I got a lot of knowledge from my internship with Justice League, from then on I was just a sponge and absorbed all the knowledge I could.”
When it comes to getting the attention from industry professionals it’s key to have patience and know your role. Rico Brooks reiterated, “Play your role, be chill in certain environments, and absorb knowledge. You should be quiet when around certain people and just learn the game. If you continue to grind you will be noticed.”
Getting noticed in this industry is hard and takes time. BWheezy gave his testimony to how he was able to make a name for himself. “I started making beats in high school. I met a guy who was willing to invest in my career and put money behind me. Shawty Redd was also a key influence in my career, he helped me develop my sound and I grew from there.”
Ciz made it clear that, “When stepping to professionals make sure you look at people as being on the same level as you. Let your connections build themselves, relationships should be built organically.”
There were a lot of gems being dropped in this interactive panel that allowed upcoming musicians gain a feel of what it really takes to be successful in this business. If you stay patient, grind, and build authentic relationships you achieve your dreams.
