Fort Knox is an New York native with an extensive resume in hosting, acting, and bringing the energy to Atlanta's most beloved hip hop shows, conferences and comptetitions.

What is your backstory?

Originally from Bronx, NY but I moved at age 11 to Atlanta. I’ve been in hip hop since then. I started as an artist; performing, battling, and developed into a artist manager. I partnered with several people to produce events, concerts, and hip hop panels. Music has always been a passion of mine. I was the young kid in front of the TV for hours listening to “Duran Duran” and “Run DMC”.

How did you get involved with Atlanta’s hip-hop community?

I was here from the beginning of the ATL music movement. Hip Hop was heavy in New York. I saw the transition with Ludacris, Dungeon Family, and etc. I was traveling to NY every year but got involved with productions in Atlanta.

Everyone knows you’re for you for your vibrant personality. You’re always the loudest one in the room. Were you always like this or did someone break you out of your shell?

I was an introvert before college. Once I started at UGA I broke out of my shell by starting to speak to people in a new environment. Nobody knew me and I just decided to show love and it was returned. At age 18, I was diagnosed with “Guillian Barre Syndrome”. The syndrome basically stops your brain to stop movement in your nerves. I dropped weight dramatically and had to learn to walk again. This is where my energy derives from. I’m giving thanks daily to be alive. I’m thankful for consistent blessings!

How long have you been involved with A3C?

I’ve known Brian since before it started. I’ve been involved since the beginning. The Apache Cafe circle and network established a strong support system for each other.

What do you enjoy most about the festival?

It gives upcoming artists a chance to shine on a massive platform and established artists a chance to reach their fans on a more personal level. They are there to interact with their fans. The international platform helps with the overall growth.

Can you give me some insight on the panel you’re speaking on this year?

The name of the panel is (The Indie-Pendent presented by Fort Knox). The focus of the panel is to present artists with an perspective on how to move independently or leverage that independence on a major deal. The panel will educate artists on starting a movement. We believe we chose the correct line up. It’s going to be informative and impactful panel this year.

Why is this panel important for you to present at the festival?

I’ve been in recording with mainstream artists and indie artists. I know it's feasible on
both ends.

What day is the panel happening?

11-12pm Media Panel with whycauseIcan.com Oct 9th 3:30-4:30 pm

Do you think it's better for artists to stay independent or sign to a major label?

Independence is the move. I’m not against a major situation if it's a good deal. Now with technology being where it's at the opportunity to maintain an independent career is strong. If you’re in the position to set requirements and make the deal make sense for you majorly then sign with a label.

Will you be making any other appearances during the festival?

Beer & Tacos “Welcome 2 Atlanta” Event with HOT 107.9 - October 7th 8p-2am

Are you working on any other projects outside of hosting?

Currently partnering with Sellen Aroesty and working with producers, songwriters, and artists placing various records and publishing.

What would you say was your most amazing experience thus far in your career?

The first time I was asked to go on tour with my brother and “Lex Records”. They signed and he was working with my favorite artist at the time “Jemini”. I was a big fan. He ended up producing his albums. We went overseas. My first tour experience opened up my mind to bigger and better. The most amazing feeling is seeing the growth of “Danger Mouse” progress. We went to high school and college together. Having been in the game seeing everyone grow individually like; K Camp and John Robinson pop off.
Celebrating my people is a honor and privilege.
