Home of the classic Midnight Train, Gladys Knight has been a staple for the city since 1997. If chicken and waffles isn’t your thing then try some slow cooked smothered chicken or delectable braised oxtails.
2) Harold’s Chicken & Ice Bar349 Edgewood Ave SE
Coming all the way from Chicago, Harold’s Chicken has made itself one of Atlanta’s go to spots for the best-fried chicken in the city. Sitting right in the middle of the Edgewood strip Harold’s is no stranger to late night eats. Featuring a full bar this chicken shack does a great job of combining the urban Hip-Hop culture of the city with great food and good vibes.
3) Mary Mac’s Tea Room

For 70 years Mary Mac’s Tea Room has been the standard for Southern Cooking in Atlanta. Most famous for their sweet tea and Southern Special entrée, Mary Mac’s gives an old classic aesthetic to soul food while still preserving that Southern Hospitality.
4) Soul Vegetarian 2652 North Highland Avenue Northeast
Soul Vegetarian 2 is one of the few soul food restaurants in Atlanta that promotes health and is an alternative for non-meat eaters. All dishes are 100% percent vegan and many dishes contain tofu or Kalebone products. For those who wish to take the “health is wealth” approach, Soul Vegetarian is the best choice on our list.
5) Busy Bee Cafe

Another Atlanta classic on our list, Busy Bee Cafe has been serving traditional soul food since 1947. Like many soul food joints you can enjoy a wide arrange of foods from Busy Bee’s Fried Chicken to their Georgia Peach Cobbler. All in all Busy Bee has something for anyone looking to get their southern fix.
