Canadian rapper Shevy Price is bringing her talent to Atlanta all the way from Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada for her performance at A3C’s “Hip-Hop Canada” Showcase. With a gritty east coast sound, Price is sure to grab her audience’s attention and give them a show to remember. Get to know this young female MC before she shuts the stage down.

Being from Canada, how are you different from other artist in your region?

What separates me is that I’ve been in so many different positions in life that I’m able to tell a great story. I’ve gone from having success to losing it at the same time. I don’t box myself into one sound. If I want to feel sexy on a track I will, if I want to make something hard and gritty I can do that also. It’s just a matter of versatility.

What made you want to get into the music business?

It started when I was 13. I used music as an outlet to express my emotions and make a name for myself because I didn’t always fit in as a kid. Ever since then the art just stuck with me and has become apart of who I am today.

Who were some of your music influences?

Wu-Tang, Missy Elliot and a lot of old school hip-hop. I absolutely love the versatility that Eve and Missy brought to the hip-hop culture. They really paved the way for me as far as being a female MC to be respected. Watching them, showed me that I can be a Boss B*tch too.

What message do you want to give your audience?

I want people to be comfortable when making mistakes, because it’s apart of being human. By telling my story my audience can better understand my struggle and avoid certain mistakes I made.

Talk to me about your showcase at this year’s A3C Festival?

The showcase is going be dope! I can’t wait to touch down in the city. I get to showcase what Canada really has to offer when it comes to rap. There’s going to be some nice artist on the showcase as well, Mitchell Bailey, City Natives, Thrillah, and Certified are a few rocking the stage with me. . It’s a whole collective of different people with a lot of different styles. Shouts out to Melissa MacMaster. She is the brain behind the entire showcase.

What are you most excited about for this year’s festival?

This is my first time performing and attending A3C. I’m super excited to gain knowledge and create new experiences with different people. I love the Atlanta scene and always leave with a positive outlook on the city because of the memories I made during my visits.
