Social media is defined as websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. While it is easy to post on multiple social media platforms, it is hard to make what is being posted count because of how fast content moves. People jump on social media without a plan which leads to not properly gaining all the benefits that social platforms have to offer.

Here are a few quick tips on how to use social media properly:

Do Not Spam

When telemarketers call asking a potential customer to try a product, most people immediately hang up the phone because they are uninterested.

This is the same way people feel when artist decide to drop a mixtape link in the middle of a Twitter conversation that they weren’t originally a part of.

So let’s be smart! There are proper ways to tell people to check out a new song that has been released. If an artist is fortunate enough to have a large following, they will check it out regardless, unless they paid for their followers. Trust, if followers want to listen they will and it they don’t, they won’t and the artist will probably get blocked.

Ways to make content standout is to have interesting visual content attached to the post. People tend to pay more attention to post that have pictures, videos, or gifs attached to them. Apply them to tweets to see the tweet activity numbers rise.

Know Your Audience

Make sure that the target audience (people who are interested and active) have been identified. Those are supporters who constantly interact with the profile by retweeting, liking pictures and always promoting.

When trying to sell or release a product, people should hear or see a sample first. Whether that’s releasing a single or a sample shirt, it should be accessible to the audience.

Utilize Captions!

Captions should not be too long because if it’s too long people will scroll past it. Also, if it’s an event or release, please remember to include the who, what, when, where, and why. If the information is hard to find, people will a) ask multiple times in the comment section or b) not participate.

Use  #Hashtag

There is power in the hashtag, people use them all the time to search info. Why not take full advantage of them? Make sure that hashtags are specific and not generic like #music #tshirt #lifestyle because it will be over looked.

It’s important to implement these social media hacks to boost interaction, following and most importantly increase results.
