Atlanta has plenty of options to please the palette of foodies looking to try something new. If you plan on staying in the city for this year’s A3C Festival and Conference, here are a few spots to help satisfy your itch for soul food.

Mary Mac’s Tea Room

224 Ponce De Leon Ave NE

Atlanta, GA 30308

In 1945 Mary Mac’s Tea Room opened with just one modest dining room and a knack for serving up delicious meals. Seven decades and several renovations later, the Midtown restaurant is a staple of the Atlanta food scene.

Menu standouts: fried okra, salmon cakes, sweet tea

Busy Bee Cafe

810 Martin Luther King Jr Dr SW

Atlanta, GA 30314

You don’t make it nearly 70 years in the restaurant game without having some amazing food. Located near Atlanta University Center, Busy Bee Cafe’s southern fare is worth fighting off the droves of hungry college students.

Menu standouts: meatloaf, fried whiting, banana pudding

Chanterelles

646 Evans St SW

Atlanta, GA 30310

There is a reason why Jeezy rapped “I’ll eat your little ass up like a Chanterelles plate,” on the track “Trap or Die.” For the past 18 years the eatery has been serving up a unique mix of soul food with cajun and German influences.

Menu standouts: curried turkey, barbecue chicken, cheese cake

South City Kitchen

1144 Crescent Ave

Atlanta, GA 30309

Mixing classic southern food with modern presentation and atmKitchenosphere, South City  is an Atlanta favorite. A lavish dining area and open kitchen area make it the perfect backdrop for a nice dinner before attending one of the A3C night showcases.

Menu standouts: Coca-cola braised salmon, shrimp & red mule grits, chicken and waffles

Soul Vegetarian 2

652 N Highland Ave

Atlanta, GA 30306

Just because you are vegetarian doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the wonders of good soul food. Soul Vegetarian 2 offers up a menu drenched in southern influence without compromising on nutrition or taste.

Menu standouts: mac n’ cheese, barbecue tofu, vegan ice cream
