Sprite is launching its “Obey Your Verse” campaign, a spin on their original slogan, “Obey Your Thirst.” Last summer Sprite launched this campaign for the first time. During the “Obey Your Verse” campaign, Sprite chooses prominent Hip-Hop artists and adorn their Sprite cans with some of their lyrics. Last summer, Drake, Nas, Rakim and the Notorious B.I.G were the highlighted artist using 16 lyrics in total for the inaugural campaign.
This summer, the “Obey Your Verse” campaign will feature lyrics from three new artists, J. Cole, Miss Elliot and Tupac. Sprite has had a long history with Hip-Hop, stretching all the way back to its 1968 commercial featuring Kurtis Blow. Since then, Sprite has worked with Drake, Vince Staples, and TDE’s Isaiah Rashad.
This year’s “Obey Your Verse” campaign is geared more to social media interaction. Fans will have a chance to win prizes by snapping pictures with the cans and uploading them to the company site. Prizes vary from signed collectibles to concert tickets.
Lyrics from songs such as, Tupac’s “All Eyez of Me”, Missy’s “The Rain”, and J.Cole’s “Crooked Smile” will be on the cans. The campaign officially starts June 20 and ends August 15.
