I want to take a moment to expresses how excited I am about the new Roots Album, How I Got Over, coming out on June 22. I saw the track list today on Nah Right and I think it's pretty cool that they're doing 9 tracks to commemorate their 9th album. Overall, it's pretty hard to think of the Roots first album dropping the same year as Midnight Marauders.
I applaud them for being able to avoid be labeled as "old school" or early 90's rap. I guess it's a testament to their ability to evolve as artists and to create incredible music. The video preview for the album is below. Another mixtape I've been feeling, Dilla Joints, is below that.
