If any of you have EVER been involved in a debate over the musical merits of Hip hop. The validity of a DJ. Or come across anyone who isn't as forward-thinking as you'd like them to be when it comes to this culture we all live and breathe - just PLEASE, forward them this post.
You may not recognize the names, but please don't be alarmed as listening to this WILL add positively to your day. C2C is a 4 man group of French Dee Jays with an undying love for Hip hop's most honored art form. Members 20Syl, Atom, Greem, and Pfel take snippets and phrases from other genres and bend, cut, and twist them into dizzying new compositions, much like The X-Ecutioners or 5th Platoon. Now if these Dee Jays sound foreign to you not to worry, I'll highlight a new one (group or soloist) every month and do my best to steer you in the right direction with links, news, etc.
In the following clip, C2C showcase the routine that has earned them the title of DMC World Champions. Oh, they've won that title four years - in a row (there's no way they have day jobs to be able to do that for four years straight). The clip does a good job at showing exactly what's taking place. So for example, at 1:37 you can see each and every element that each member adds from bar to bar. And again at 3:44, you'll notice how precise and locked on the groove everyone is. Now I know, it's over 6 minutes long - but it's worth it.
So next time you feel the 'Hip hop-is-not-real-music' argument about to fold, instead of tellin' them to lick the balls, just point them here!
