2010 A3C Artist Spotlight: Tariq L.

Tariq L. started his career as a producer, in the late 90’s remixing De La Soul’s “The Stakes is High”. Later he formed a group called “The Hemisphere” they dropped their debut lp entitled “Performing Artz” and received notable reconition in The Source magazine unsigned indie section, The source mag claims the song “Ghetto Hallz” stood out, funny thing about that is Akon was featured on that track. Appearing on the Lyricist Lounge tour and project gave the group a worldwide buzz. The Hemisphere landed a deal with Subverse Music/Caroline(EMI) sharring the roster with MF Doom at that time. Tariq L. started his solo career at Subverse Music right after performing @ the Montruex Jazz Festival 2001 in Switzerland. “Beatz in my lifetime” volume 1.0 was the debut album in 2003. Due to the label folding, the album still manage to do well and get out all over the world. This is the birth of Soundright Music to Soundright Music International. Tariq took advice from his music associate and friend AKON, and started to travel to Europe for the music. 2006 was Tariq ‘s first major european tour as a MC with the Legendary Jurassic 5 c/o Interscope Records. They hit Belgium to Amsterdam, L.A. to Las Vegas then back to Atlanta. DJ’ing in clubs and testing the markets in europe was educational, and a good experience blending the markets together, that’s the vision of Tariq L. April/2009 Tariq L. appeared as special guest on the hottest reality show on TMF/MTV BELGIUM called “THE PROJECT”,Then October 10th 2009 Tariq L made a special appearance at the TMF/MTV awards to perform with Jay-J, Qwes. Tariq L. “Black Elevator Music” will be predicted to be that producers artist classic.
