Think It’s A Game Records (TIG) introduced acts like Trinidad James, Rich Homie Quan and the label's current front runner, YFN Lucci. As they prepare to celebrate their 5th anniversary with a show at A3C, their Switch Sessions (partnered with Boost Mobile) give competing artists a chance to open for YFN Lucci and gift everyone who attends a free pass to the October celebration.
This week, if you're in the Atlanta area, you can shoot your shot from 12-2:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Boost Mobile store located at 2740 Greenbriar Parkway SW.
We caught up with the CEO of Think It's A Game, Girvan "Fly" Henry to get his take on TIG's influence on Hip-Hop, YFN Lucci’s newest project (Long Live Nut) and his most memorable moment as a CEO.
FLY: A couple important factors for launching these careers were me having patience with the artists and making sure the music was right for the consumer.
FLY: The most memorable experience was the success of my first artist, Trinidad James. Seeing his record become as huge as it was a huge accomplishment. Following that, making other artists successful and getting No. 1 records independently was memorable. I was able to prove to my colleagues that what happened with Trinidad wasn't just by chance; there's a process and planning that goes into it.
FLY: Being that Long Live Nut was paying homage to a friend who passed, the main obstacle we was making sure that we honored Nut's legacy by having music with integrity and substance.
FLY: You can expect more hit records, more superstar artists and be on the lookout for Lucci's debut album.
FLY: Stay consistent.
FLY: I love Atlanta music! There is so much great music coming out of our city right now.
FLY: People should attend the sessions to be come get informed about the independent side of the business, to network and to be inspired.
