"After reading our overview of 1996, we wanted to provide a more immersive lesson on the importance of that year. In our short clip above, we give you some historical context for 1996. It was a monumental time for hip hop, as it grew out of its old school era into the golden era and eventually ice age. It also spawned the business side of things with clothing brands, independent labels, and more. Master P and Diddy would lay the groundwork down that many future entrepreneurs would study. Some of hip hop’s most beloved albums also saw releases in 1996, including the Fugees, Roots, Jay Z, Tupac, Nas, and more.

We can’t forget to mention that 1996 marked our entrance onto the scene. Part of our dedication to the game was and is making sure that we provide the best of the best of the culture around us, from the illest graff writers to the dopest emcees to the people changing the world as we know it." - Mass Appeal
