You may recognize him from the hip-hop collective Two9, but Retro Jace is just as comfortable standing alone on his own two feet.
Two9 is a group known for their alternative Atlanta hip-hop sound, and Jace's style is the perfect embodiment of the culture the group represents. Coming straight out of East Atlanta, the rowdy bunch has made it their mission to revamp what's known as today's music scene. In 2014, the group signed a joint deal under Mike WiLL Made-It’s Interscope imprint 'Eardrummers,' the label well-known for the popularity of Rae Sremmurd. Since then, their music has been popping up left and right —from loose cuts, to mixtapes, to a series of monthly EPs.
Each associated act under the Two9 name has also made individual strides to make their mark on the rap game by exploring a solo career. Jace, going back and forth between Atlanta and his hometown New York, has made quite the name for himself. Undoubtedly the group's best spitter, his lyrical talents are a forced to be reckoned with.
Creating hits with the likes of Key!, Curtis Williams, Bosco, and Lil Dicky, Jace's untraceable sound proudly tap dances on the boundaries of music genre. You may remember his track "F*ck You Expect" appearing on Mike Will Made It's "Ransom" mixtape. Despite being the shortest song on the tracklist, it's been argued to be one of the hottest songs on the tape.
If you want to hear more of Jace, check out his debut solo project "Jace Tape," and check him out when he hits the stage this year at A3C.
