While some may hate to admit it, the summer is coming to a close. It's been an eventful one full of new music, clothing and cultural breakthroughs, but there is plenty in store for the fall, such as sports, cuffing season and a myriad of shoe releases. Regardless, there are still a few weeks of summer left, so before things cool off for good take a look at some of the heat that's dropping as the month progresses.
Nike Air Footscape Woven Linen - Sept. 1 - $180
The Nike Footscape Woven have been seeing a heavy rise in popularity over the summer, and the hype will surely continue into the fall with the newest release on the streets. The woven textile mid is complementary to the shoe’s design, but what truly makes this one stand out is the combination of leather upper with a beige coloration.
ASICS Vegetable-Tanned GEL-Lyte Vs - Sept. 2 - $140
Asics keeps the Summer styles coming with their colorful “vegetable tan” Vs. Keeping true to the name, these Asics have their signature logo dyed tan, but the coloration truly contrasts the brighter colors found in one of the two variations. The white midsole provides a good foundation for the rest of the shoe, and it's the shoe’s tan colorway is a very tasteful fashion statement as summer cools off. Asics are always a great selection because they perfectly walk the line between sporty and casual.
Under Armour Curry 2.5 - Sept. 3 - $135
While the NBA postseason may not have ended quote how Steph Curry would have liked this time around, he’s certainly been living it up and making major strides this summer. After announcing his Asia Tour that is set to transpire during the first week of September, Under Armour developed some seemingly Asian themed colorways for his most popular shoe. The “Sky Hound” and “Monkey King” colors both draw inspiration from traditional Chinese opera masks, but retain the bulky, highly-supportive design we’ve come to expect.
Reebok Classic Leather Rose Cloud - Sept. 4 - $75
A stylish, classy look for all the ladies out there, The Rose Cloud is a material iteration of Reebok screaming, “Hey, we’re still here!”. They have all the reason to shout with this release, as it has one hell of a design. While the white midsole is rather typical, the leather upper is a nice spin on the traditional Reebok style. The coloration is to die for, as it’s soft enough for women to covet, but still has a sporty enough look to wear on the go.
sacai x Hender Scheme Overdyed Sneaker - Sept. 4 - $1,035
On the higher end of things, this collaboration is an ominous, yet stylish take on the sporty low top look that’s dominated this summer. Completely customized, these trainers are the work of designer Chitose Abe. The naturally worn look is a nice deviation from the “fresh out the box” look that many people tend to go for with sneakers.
Meek Mill x Puma Blaze Of Glory “Dream Chasers” - Sept. 6 - $130
Now that people are finally seeming to move past some of Meek Mill’s recent shortcomings, we thought this was the perfect time to speak on some hot new releases he’s putting out with Puma. Puma has been going hard as of late with the celeb collaborations, but this one is remarkably done. As dark and gloomy as you want them to be, the triple-black coloration matches the style of these trainers perfectly. Part of an exclusive “Dream Chasers” package you can purchase that includes a shirt, sweats, hoodie and jacket, this look works well as a casual ensemble or a sporty, workout day vibe.
Nike Kobe 11 Elite Mambacurial - Sept. 8 - $200
While the Black Mamba Kobe Bryant recently hung up the shoes for good, he’s not slowing down anytime soon with the sneaker releases. Kobe’s shoes have always taken on a more unique style in comparison to other basketball shoes, and these are no different. The Mambacurial’s have a very soccer-esque style to them, extremely low top in nature. While the design may not instantly trigger a basketball vibe, it does retain its flyknit material as well as a cool navy and gold colorway.
Adidas Originals Winter Wool Pack - Sept. 9 - Unknown
This may be the hottest release on our list. Adidas continues to hold Nike’s feet to the fire with its impressive onslaught of original designs, and the NMD City Sock definitely tops the list of innovations. One of two shoes customers will receive in the package, the City Sock has no laces and is almost comprised of a Black wool Primeknit upper and an Ultra Boost sole. The SeeULater is a little less popular in the streets, but all the more quirky with its rugged, spiked sole. While it does have laces, it also maintains the “sock” upper that the City Sock boasts.
Nike Kyrie 2 Australia - Sept. 10 - $120
Recently crowned an NBA champ and Olympic Gold Medalist, Kyrie Irving basks in all of his excellence with this dope creation. Perhaps a celebration of all the gold hardware he’s earned this season, the 2 retains its sleek, hooper’s design but comes primes in an electric gold colorway that’s hard to miss. Kyrie reps his dual citizenship to the fullest here by the shoe's namesake. Whether on the court or in the streets, this shoe will surely turn heads and may even break a few ankles.
Adidas NMD R1 Solar Red - Sept. 17 - $120
Arguably the most sought after shoe in the streets right now, the NMD hits hard with another crucial color scheme--solar red. As previously mentioned, Adidas is coming with the heat, this time in a more literal sense. Reminiscent of the “Red October” this NMD still has the Ultra Boost sole and mesh upper, but completely submits to one overarching color, rather than two or three like its predecessors.
