It’s been months since Smino fans heard something new from the St. Louis rapper, but yesterday he “walked in clean” for his birthday and released a new song, Sorbet.
This playful track, produced by Seattle’s Sango, starts off with a voicemail recording of singer Akenya, singing Smino Happy Birthday. The recording smoothly transitions to a nostalgic beat, reminiscent of 80s r&b, while maintaining the hot 808s that we love so much.
Although it came as a surprise, we knew Smino was up to something when he posted a teaser of the song in a video on Twitter last week.
