Rickey Smiley Morning Show Host Headkrack’s Talent Extends Beyond a Radio VJ

Lester Ruffin, also known as Headkrack, is an exceptional radio personality who resides in Atlanta, Ga. Before working for the popular national program, The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Headkrack worked for 97.9 The Beat in Dallas, Texas. While in Texas, Headkrack was the first at the station to be given his own show to report Hip-Hop news. As he continued to work at the station, Headkrack gained enough popularity to be rated the #1 time slot. Besides having an impressive radio career, this creative has many other unique talents up his sleeves.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., Headkrack grew up during a time were Hip-Hop was at its most exciting time. On top of always being submerged in music, Headkrack was always up late listening to different radio hosts like Cool DJ Red Alert on 98.7 Kiss FM, and Chuck Chillout on WBLS. It seems that being in such a musical environment inspired this artist to start creating his own rhymes. The young MC didn’t start writing music until the late 80’s, but says he didn’t start taking music seriously until 1990. Since then, Headkrack has won several freestyle battles across the country and has even performed on stage with some of the industry’s best artists like Common, Wyclef Jean, Big Pun, and Run DMC. In 2004, “Krack” was featured on the Vans Warped Tour, and in 2010 he took home the title as “Best Rapper” at Atlanta’s 2010 Redbull EmSee Battle.

When Headkrack isn’t hosting radio shows or destroying beats, he’s probably working on his demo reel as an actor. In 2009, Headkrack played a major role in one his first independent films titled Black Angels. Years later, he also landed a role in the film First Impression, and the popular television series Archer. When it comes to this individual it’s almost as if he does it all. Make sure to catch Headkrack at Urban Fetes' Silent Party: A3C Edition on Wednesday, October 5th at 9:00 PM
