U Guessed it: OG Maco is returning to A3C

Written by Joseph Tiller | Sep 28

For those who have been wondering where OG Maco has been, the Atlanta artist was in a near fatal car accident this year, suffering from multiple injuries including losing his right eye. Others would have seen that as a sign to stop, but OG Maco wasted no time getting back to business. Only three months after the accident, OG Maco is making an appearance at this year’s A3C Festival. His long awaited debut album Children of Rage is scheduled to be released on October 10, so you can be sure you may hear a new track or two.

OG Maco is two sides of the same coin. Before becoming a rapper Maco was a guitarist and vocalist in a rock band. He has carried that rock star spirit and enthusiasm into his rap career. He can be wild and energetic, but can switch to being calm and insightful. He broke out in 2014 with his single “U Guessed It.” That single unexpectedly went viral and launched OG Maco’s career. He admits that, that song is not his best efforts, and does not want to be defined by it. Ever since then, he has been on a mission to prove he is one of the best rappers out. OG Maco has stayed on the grind, dropping over 13 mixtapes and EPs since the release of “U Guessed It.”

OG Maco is signed to Quality Control, along with label mates, Skippa da Flippa, and Migos. A member of the 2015 XXL Freshman Class, OG Maco’s latest EP, Blvk Phil Collins shows a slight change in sound displaying his versatility. A side from being a rapper himself, OG Maco has his own label imprint OGG, standing for Originality Gains Greatness. He has signed two artist, Doja Cat and Spud Boom, who are expected to be at the OGG presents: Black Lives Thrive showcase with OG Maco.
