Hailing all the way from San Antonio, TX, DJ Hella Yella is a true visionary and connoisseur of music. The hip-hop culture was introduced to Yella at an early age while exploring new music at home and through movies such as “Juice” and BET’s “Rap City.” These influences along with studying famous Dj’s like DJ Screw, Kid Capri, DJ Drama, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and FunkMaster Flex lead to DJ Hella Yella becoming an official Dj in 2004 while attending Huston-Tillotson University.
“My goal is to become the go-to guy for central Texas. I want to be what Drama is to Atlanta, what Big Von is to the Bay, what Bay Bay is to Louisiana, then expand that regionally, and then nationally.”
With a relentless grind and effort to be the best, “The Yella Hulk,” became a household nickname for the monstrous Texas Dj. He has released over 100 mixtapes since the start of his career featuring artists such as Mya, Travis Porter, Durrough, and Wiz Khalifa. His craft has been exemplified on some of the major stages across the country such as NBA All-Star Weekend, X Games, Super Bowl Weekend, A3C Music Festival & Conference, and numerous SXSW showcases. He has also been the opening Dj for Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar, T.I., J.Cole, UGK, Nicki Minaj, Wu-Tang Clan and much more.
His hard work over the years has not gone unnoticed due to receiving many awards and accolades from 2008-2014 such as “Club DJ of the Year” from Southern Entertainment and “Best DJ in Town” by the staff of Austin-American Statesmen. It’s safe to say that DJ Hella Yella’s resume proves why he is one of the go-to DJs in the industry. To hear the dope sounds from the “Yella Hulk,” be sure to add his events to your A3C calendar.
