Written by Jerel Marshall | Sep 30

Since stepping on the scene in 2010, Deniro Farrar has kept things interesting by releasing a steady stream of songs showcasing his southern-drenched raspy voice and insightful raps. Whether you are a long time fan or you are hearing about him for the first time, you should catch Farrar at A3C 2016 at the It’s Lit showcase on the main stage Sunday October 9 at 3:00 p.m.

Deniro Farrar has dubbed himself “the leader of Cult rap,” a style based in reality and social commentary that has been resonating with listeners all across the country. Using a past filled with violence and drugs as the backdrop, Farrar paints vivid pictures of the life and mentality of impoverished black youth. Despite rapping over consistently smooth production, Farrar conveys a sense of urgency and anger that permeates through every track.

Feel This, a 31-track mixtape released on Black Flag Records, helped Farrar began to gain a following on the blogosphere. Since, he has dropped eight projects including Mind of a Gemini, which he released June of this year to commemorate his 27 birthday.

Since the release of his last project, Farrar has worked with Flosstradamus, Jay IDK, Riff Raff and Gucci Mane. He also just released a set of visuals for the track “Duality” directed by James Rico which shows the Charlotte representer meditating and connecting with nature.

The It’s Lit showcase will also feature performances from Alex Wiley, 21 Savage, Jerreau and more.
