For the past 13 years, Ticketmaster has been fighting a class action lawsuit against Curt Schlessinger. Apparently Ticketmaster was charging order processing fees, but those fees had nothing to do with processing the order. In 2011 the lawsuit was settled, and Ticketmaster and Live Nation, who owns Ticketmaster since 2009, was ordered to refund any one who made a purchase from October 1999 to February 2013. The company is giving away $400 million worth of free and discounted tickets.
By now you’re asking, what’s the catch? If you received an email with “Schlesinger v. Ticketmaster Class Action Settlement – Notice Regarding Discount and Ticket Codes” in the subject line, then that was the notification that was sent to account holders. It may be in your spam folder, or you could have deleted in thinking it was junk mail. The only way you can use the free and/or discounted tickets is by logging in to your Ticketmaster account using the email you used between 1999 and 2013. Users also do not get to pick the event they want to use their discounted tickets for. Live Nation will choose what events and venues the discounts can be applied to. So that means free A3C tickets are out of the question. The free ticket vouchers and discounts also have expiration dates, so act fast.
The list of eligible shows and events have not been announced yet, but you can check if you have free and discounted tickets. When you login into your account, go to “My Account” then to “Active Vouchers.” This is one of those rare occurrences, so if you get lucky, enjoy it.
