On September 15th, The White House honored eleven young women as Champions of Change. Karen Civil was there and delivered to the honorees, a heart filled speech of inspiration. These young trailblazers received recognition for their courage and contributions to their culture and communities. The event was a perfect match for Civil.
LivingCivil.com, her digital platform, where Karen continues to reinvent in the media industry. With the addition of inspirational content, she adds depth to her digital media; an element something missing in the entertainment media space online. Karen’s transition on stage is flawless.
Civil tells the young girls to be steadfast and firm, in their dreams. She asserts that her beginnings in Elizabeth, New Jersey were full of road blocks. Yet, she states, “You must not be afraid to speak your conviction over your future, do not be afraid to stand up and advocate whether you’re in the classroom or the boardroom.” Her words perfect and align well with the purpose of the event. For the young ladies listening, Karen Civil must have reassured them the process works if you forge a path that continues to move you forward as a leader. Karen Civil was not lucky in business, but rather knew how to leverage what was familiar and use it to move forward.
Karen emphasized [it’s], “Passion an emotion that will push you to break free from your comfort zone and extend pass any boundaries you saw for yourself.” This is just one of the clues needed to make a difference for/and/to young women and girls. Now girls live in a world where educators, advocates, peer-mentors, artists and entrepreneurs appreciate that they can be leaders in their own way and their unique style.
