| How has your city and influenced your music? The city is where we learned about music. Coming from Detroit it is everywhere. Every barber shop or liquor store music is playing or someone is talking about it. The spirit of the people and the legacy of soulful music sticks to you automatically. |
What song, video or project are you most proud of to date? Not to sound too cliché but to be real we are proud of all the moves we have made. Every album, collaboration, show or video has helped make the group who we are now. If you can't take the time to make decisions that will allow you to look back and be proud at your body of work then there is a disconnect somewhere. |
What do you enjoy about bout being a hip-hop artist? The most enjoyable part is the legacy we are blessed to leave. By far the connection we get to make with other human beings means the world. Long after we hang up the mics that impact, those emotions and that vibe will still be alive whenever you press "play" it's forever. It's legacy. |
What can people expect from you over the next 6 months? We have a totally new approach. We will be making music and touring like usual but at this point with the world being where it is we want to do more. We want to be more. So expect The R to be alot more active. |
What advice would you give to yourself a few years ago? That is not a fair question. We would have to tell ourselves that we need to push harder. We have never been slouching since 2009 when we reformed the group, but the older you get the less time you have left. That may seem obvious but in the moment you do not realize that what is here today may be gone in 5 minutes, forget tomorrow because tomorrow may not even come. It is all sacrifice and you have to pay for what results you want. Question is what will you pay? |
What do you most look forward to about A3C Festival & Conference? Building with fans face to face. Seeing them and feeling their energy and love. |
