Written by Micah 'Shinobi X' Jennings | Oct 6

Cool Amerika gears up to shut down five A3C stages this year. The Atlanta duo consisting of Bally Benjamin and Stunt McLovin have gotten industry exposure from their single “Make Sum Shake” off their latest mixtape No Taxes 2. The tape also features tracks from the Migos, Kevin Gates, Rocko and Nipsey Hussle. With a range of versatile material, Cool Amerika continues to give their fans something to look forward too.

What is the meaning behind the name Cool Amerika?

The name Cool Amerika is a lifestyle. It’s a symbol of the culture to be different in life and not be afraid to take different routes. Cool Amerika represents us as a community.

Tell me about the creation of the hit record “Make Sum Shake.”

When we created the record, we wanted it to be an anthem to motivate people to get out and get something. Whether you’re in school grinding or on the street hustling, we just wanted to display that grind attitude. Also being from Atlanta we had to make something that would go crazy in the strip clubs.

How are you able to follow up the success of the single?

We’re trying to attack all areas of music by staying versatile and consistent. We want to make uplifting records that get you hype and still talk about problems in our community.  In the meantime, we’re working on a new tape called “Alliance and Loyalty” and pushing our single “Ratchet.”

Tell me about your performance at A3C this year?

This year we are featured on five different stages. The Street Execs, My Mixtapes and No Genre stages are a few that we will be rocking. Our goal is to shut each stage down and give the crowd a good show.

Being from Atlanta how do you keep your style new so that it’s different from what’s come from the city?

Atlanta is the home for being new and different. We got our own producers that we work with, so we’re able to create our own sound. Buddah Bless has been our go to producer for a lot of our work. We’ll get to the studio and create bangers from scratch.

Being upcoming artist what has been biggest obstacle faced in the music industry?

Being away from our family for long periods of time has been hard for us. We have been travelling on the road a lot, and it’s hard for your family to adjust to your schedule. We just try to come home as often as possible.

What are your plans to get your music to the next level?

Right now we’re just going to keep grinding while staying with our independent label AMG/Empire.  We are making big moves with out the help of a major label. We have all the resources we need to be successful. As long as we keep supplying quality music to the fans we’ll continue to make a name for ourselves.
