In the 90’s, Super Nintentdo, PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Gameboy and Gameboy Color were all released. Each gaming system had something to offer that went along with the hype at that point in time. Kids and adults would hop on the game consoles and play games like Super Mario Kart, Mortal Kombat, and Resident Evil.

Super Mario World was released in 1990 and Yoshi was introduced to the world. Mario and Yoshi are a dynamic duo whose bound can’t be broken. There have been DJ’s to remix some of the songs found on different Mario games.

Sonic the Hedgehog was released in 1991 and since then the game evolved.  There have been multiple versions of Sonic that have been released and they even include new characters. Tails is Sonic’s sidekick that is with him everywhere that he goes. The 25th anniversary of Sonic is coming out next spring and it is called Sonic Mania and it is set to be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Liu Kang were all popular names once Mortal Kombat released in 1992. The fight game caused a lot of issues for friendships when the loser had to give up the controller. For those that didn’t have the gaming console, they could go to the local laundromat or corner store.

The first Pokemon game was released in 1996. It was Pokemon Red and Blue that really took it up a level.  Everyone wanted to be a trainer and have Pikachu as pet and now it is somewhat reality with the release of Pokemon GO.

Resident Evil 2 was released in 1998 was a horror game pretty much about fighting zombies. The game was before it’s time because now shows like Walking Dead are out.

In 1999, everyone was interested in becoming a skater and Tony Hawk was a household name, especially during the time of The X Games. For those who didn’t want to learn how to actually skateboard, they still had a chance to play Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater on PlayStation.

There were plenty of games that came out during the 90’s that were designed to capture different types of people.
