The Can You Dig It? Remix Contest: And The Winner Is…

Posted by LuisReyes on May 31

On behalf of Coalmine Records & UniqueSquared.com, we are pleased to announce Dukes Go Up (reppin PA) as the official winner of the Can You Dig It? Remix Contest. The judging panel consisted of El Da Sensei, The Returners, Bekay, and representatives from Unique Squared. Out of countless submissions in a contest that yielded over 500 DOWNLOADS, it was Dukes Go Up's sample chop, use of neck snapping drums and incredible attention to detail that put his remix over the top for him to be crowned the winner. You may click below to stream a snippet version of the remix that features El Da Sensei’s verse.

This remix will be featured on El Da Sensei’s forthcoming The Nu World Remix EP, scheduled to be released during the third quarter of 2011 through Coalmine Records, where this track will be officially titled “Everyday In The Street” (Can You Dig It? Remix) [prod. by Dukes Go Up]. Dukes Go Up will share a tracklist that boasts production from the likes of Khrysis, M-Phazes, Cimer Amor and of course, The Returners. We are also pleased to announce that this project will feature an additional version of “Everyday In The Street”, produced by Khrysis, that will feature El Da Sensei rapping alongside his recently united partner in rhyme, Tame One in what will be the first time the duo will be featured on a retail project together since the 1997 release of That’s Them!!

Dukes Go Up is awarded a very generous prize package courtesy of UniqueSquared.com that will include both equipment (TBD) and promotional goods. Thanks to everyone who took part in this incredibly successful and highly competitive remix contest and here are the five finalists with an honorable mention for their incredible submissions (in no particular order):

1. The Arcitype (Boston)
2. Buck Oner (France)
3. Ion The Prize (Berkeley, CA)
4. DJ Qvali (Sweden)
5. Mike A (Denmark)

Also, we have another remix contest scheduled to begin Monday, June 6th, so don’t get too comfortable. Without getting into too many specifics or revealing the artist(s), we’ll say that the original track was produced by !llmind, so you’ll need to bring your A game…stay tuned!!
