Def Jam, Inc. - Summer reading for the Non-average

Written by LuisReyes | Apr 5

If you've been looking for a change to the usual fare at 'Oprah's Book Club' (kinda' joking but not really), bumping up the Hip Hop IQ for your impending segment on Jeopardy's lightning 'Real Rap' round (hey, it could happen), or just an interesting read - look no further than Def Jam, Inc.

Revealing some trivia that Hip hop heads will certainly want more of, Robbie at Unkut details some of the enlightening morsels from Def Jam, Inc. like Ad-Roc's pivotal role in LL Cool J's career and why The Beastie Boys resorted to a back-up back-up DJ.

However, not all of the book's content deals with little-known insider tid bits. The author, Stacy Gueraseva, also sheds light on two major factors at Def Jam's embryonic and initial rise - Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons.

A fine read for the days when computer-screen-staring just won't cut it.
