A3C Perfect Attendance Artist Spotlight: Ethereal

Ethereal has been eliciting eargasmic, celestial rhythms through his projects. Recently honing the craft of lyricism, the wheelchair boywonder is a double threat to be aware of. He's been making consistent noise from his "Attack From The Sky" podcast to his GreedmontPark collaborative tape "No Saliva". Ethereal is gradually making his mark, but don't jump on the bandwagon later. See him perform on October 7th.

Tell us about who Ethereal is. Where did the name derive from?

Ethereal.. Ethereal is an alter ego of mine. He came about late in high school around year 2007. I feel as though over night I was possessed by a Supernatural energy. It literally came out of nowhere. The actual definition of Ethereal is: “of or relating to the regions beyond the earth. Lacking material substance.” I feel as though my entire being, not even my music career, but entire person lives through the definition of this word.

For those that are unaware, how would you describe your style of music & sound that you create?

The music I make is honestly that of intersteller beings. I’m talking the most Supernatural energy that comes around. I can’t even really try and contain it into one genre, I mean I make hip-hop, drum and bass, electronica, experimental, abstronica. I love hate concept of sound in general so I try and dabble and dip my hand into everything I can think of. Let’s just call it ‘Listening Music’.

This year will be your first time performing at A3C. What are you looking forward to the most from this experience?

This year was the first year that I really actually started to take myself seriously as a lyricist, and I made the Perfect Attendance stage which is pretty dope. What I’m looking forward to the most is connecting with a shit ton of different artists and producers and really overall setting a shadow to remember for next year. Next year I want the ‘out of town’ niggas to know who I am and what I’m about as far as this music ish goes.

What do you enjoy the most about being a producer & and lyricist?

Hahah. Of course the freedom to do what the hell I want in both of those aspects of a music career. Kanye’n it. I don’t have to pay someone an outrageous fee for a beat that i might not even like that much honestly. Or knowing that whatever I spit over my own tracks will be mega as hell. I have the freedom to really experiment with my skill and what not, because I have a say in both sides of the project.

What upcoming projects can we expect from you?

I tend to keep my plate way more than full so i will have a perpetual workflow. Let’s see, right now we have, ‘Real. Good.’ a rap/hip-hop LP I’m putting out to flaunt my talents as a lyricist. That comes Oct. 31 with a lot of dope dope features. I have an experimental/drum and bass/electronica beat tape coming out under the title ‘Abstractica’. This will really spotlight my prowess and skill as a pioneering producer and composer. And one more major one I’m working on is a tape titled ‘11++ SubID ETHER EP’. This will be released under 1320records mother site www.1320records.com and will feature 6 monster tracks from the band/producer duo SubID and I. I’m really excited about that one. $4.20 .

Get familiar with Ethereal & check out his latest creation, Real.Good. *Sampler*.
