.A3C festival and Conference is full of live performances from artists who are established and artists who are looking to make a name There are also bloggers and journalists who attend the festival looking for that exclusive interview and a chance to feature a new hot artist on their blog. Not only do members of the press have access to hundreds of live shows, they also have access to plenty of panel discussions where valuable information is shared.

This year, bloggers, journalist and anyone who is aspiring to be a writer can hear what experts have to say about the field of journalism. Journalists have seen a dramatic change in their field. The shift from print media to digital media has been jarring for most publications. Many have gone completely digital, scaling back their print issues or discontinuing print all-together. Other publications weren’t able to keep up with the changing times and went out of business fast.

Going digital was the best economic decision for many publications, but it caused quality issues for journalism as a whole. Anybody is now able to create a blog and share their opinion online. Some publications even limit the number of trained staff writers and depend a lot on contributions from the general public. Along with finding talented writers, media outlets are in stiff competition with each other to be the most visited and respected media sites on the internet.

The year A3C will have a special panel for journalists who are trying to get ahead of the curve. The Future of Journalism: Covering Hip-Hop Culture is a panel that will feature guest speaker, Editor-in-Chief of XXL magazine, Vanessa Satten. Satten has been with XXL since 1998 and has been keeping the magazine a prominent Hip-Hop publication for the past seven years as Editor-in-Chief. She will be at A3C to share the do’s and don’ts of journalism as well as new trends and what she thinks the future of Hip-Hop journalism will be. Make sure you get your tickets now. The Future of Journalism: Covering Hip-Hop Culture panel will take place Friday, October 7th at 2:00PM in the Loudermilk Center.
