This panel will serve as a launching pad for Started from Scratch: The History of Atlanta’s Pioneer DJs, an upcoming independent documentary that is an account of the musical and cultural beginnings of hip-hop in Atlanta, told from the perspectives of many of Atlanta’s earliest and most influential DJs, including: DJ Jaycee, Mr. DJ, Lady DJ, DJ Jelly, DJ Mars, Jerry Smokin' B and DJ Toomp.

Although many of the cast members are best known for their contributions to the careers of huge stars such as T.I., Kanye West, Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, and Ludacris, respectively, they all began in the tight-knit Atlanta hip-hop community in the 1980s + 1990s.

Atlanta may run the rap game right now, but things weren’t always this way. The Started from Scratch panel is an interactive discussion and celebration of the beginnings of Atlanta’s hip-hop culture, featuring some of the DJs who helped to construct it.

12:00 - 1:30 on October 8th, 2016 at SAE Institue.

ONLY accessible with VIP, A3C Festival & Confernece or Conference passes.
