It’s officially August, which means you only have a few chances left to squeeze in a night out with friends before we make the official transition from summer to fall.
So who’s got the tunes? Artists drop music left and right in the summertime as a results of you having less to do and more time to listen, so the summer-jam-session playlist automatically comes with higher expectations. You need to aim to play songs that everyone knows well enough to vibe to, but you also have to steer clear of songs that have been completely overkilled by the radio.
Finding the perfect balances to set the tone for the night takes true talent, but the pressure of being handed the aux cord can also be a bit overwhelming. This week’s staff-pick playlist is the perfect solution for when you don’t feel like putting any effort in being the DJ. Here are 5 songs that are guaranteed crowd pleasers:
Dj Khaled - For Free ft. Drake
We had to list this one first, since it’s most likely on its way out of the door from this category. Dj Khaled has gifted us with a tracklist full of major keys this summer, but this one definitely takes the cake.
2. D.R.A.M - Broccoli ft. Lil Yatchy
Even though it’s been out for quite some time now, D.R.A.M and Lil Yatchy’s “Broccoli” is just a catchy as ever. You’re bound to get a few heads nodding if you pop-off your car ride with this track.
3. French Montana - No Shopping ft. Drake
If all the talk of spending money and meeting exotic women doesn’t make you want to party, watching the video will. Drake & French definitely brought the fun back to Hip-Hop with this one.
4. Gucci Mane - P***y Print ft. Kanye West
Need to switch it up without completely slowing things down at the function? This Gucci x Kanye collab is perfect for a party playlist, along with just about every other track from Gucci’s Everybody Looking Album.
5. Lil Uzi - 7 Million ft. Future
The purple dreaded rockstar surprised his fans with a new mixtape on his birthday, and to no surprise, the track that features Future is in the running for best song on the tape. Even if the rest of the car isn’t familiar with the song (yet), they’re guaranteed to join the movement within 60 seconds into the track.
