We had the opportunity to gain insight from one of the top young leaders in the game, CEO of Symphonic, Jorge Brea. We are excited to partner with Symphonic this year! Symphonic's growth is truly impressive. To learn more about their journey, check out our interview with their CEO below:

Jorge Brea - CEO Symphonic- CEO Jorge Brea

A3C: Why did you choose to get into the music industry?

Initially I wanted to get into the industry to get my own music out there and express myself through music. I started to get a passion for the business side, seeing the challenges that I had as a musician and that is where my passion lives today.

A3C: What about the music industry do you find most exciting?

The creative aspect and stories that creators work so hard to get out there. I like being apart of campaigns and/or helping artists look at the business and see it as a business rather than a hobby. I also love what I do at Symphonic specifically because every day is a new challenge and brings with it new chances for successes.

A3C: Where do you see the industry in the next 2-3 years?

Streaming will continue to grow and should be 50% larger than it is in 2019. I think we’ll also start to see other territories become vital parts of the industry. China, Russia, and possibly the beginnings of a great industry in Africa and India as well that will start to be vital territories for creators

A3C: Is there anything you’re working on (that you can share) that you’re excited about doing in 2019-2020?

We’re integrating exciting new partnerships. Digital Service Providers look and feel differently now so we’re working

A3C : What impact do you feel Symphonic has made in the industry?

I feel we’ve been able to outlast some competitors, build a profitable business that never loses touch of the personal side and most of all, help folks develop and get education.

A3C: What type of legacy do you want to leave?

I think I’d like for people to look at me and the company as a genuine, honest, and transparent brand. The industry has traditionally had many bad actors and we’d want to be considered as one of the few good ones that told it like it is with transparency and professionalism.

A3C: Aside from colleagues at Symphonic, who do you admire in the industry?

Charles Caldas @ Merlin is one. He, the Merlin board and the entire Merlin team have negotiated ground breaking deals to give independents parity with the majors

A3C: What is a lesson that you’ve learned from a challenge?

I’ve learned that a challenge, whether it is technology, business, sales, etc…. isn’t always solved by bringing on experience and that good old fashion hard work as well as trusting your instincts can help you achieve challenges that you thought you couldn’t do.

A3C: What motivates and drives you to continue to improve and innovate?

Being able to focus on new and exciting ways of getting the company out there. Whether its new partnerships, new technology, new and exciting hires, etc….

Make sure you meet Jorge Brea at The Artist Center @ A3C Conference presented by Symphonic.
