As it comes to no surprise, Hip Hop is currently at the forefront when it comes to utilizing new innovative platforms in music and media.  A3C’s Music Tech Startup Spotlight highlights music startups that enable music makers to create, share, and monetize from their work through digital platforms.

We look forward to having Rapchat included in our Startup Spotlight this year!  Rapchat is an app that allows you to create, collaborate, distribute, and discover freestyle raps in the palm of your hand. You can record raps over beats by hundreds of upcoming producers and share them with friends on the app or on social media.  Co-Founders Seth Miller and Pat Gibson came up with the concept and won first place at Ohio University’s Startup weekend in 2013 and have been changing the rap and app games ever since!

Pat Gibson says, “We provide access to beats from producers worldwide, a mobile recording studio, and the platform to build a fanbase and get discovered. We are building products that allow both producers and rappers to monetize their work as well.”  The app also includes links to your Soundcloud, Twitter, iTunes and more to actively engage and showcase your creations.

Pat mentioned how being an A3C Startup Spotlight Finalist has been one of their biggest accomplishments to date! They’re excited to be apart of the conference and can’t wait to network and meet producers and tastemakers in the industry who could benefit from their app.  “It's huge, Atlanta is the Mecca of Hip Hop right now and A3C will be the country's biggest hip-hop event. The exposure to upcoming artists and networking with major artists/producers will be huge.”

With the way today’s music, technology, and culture are regularly evolving, it can be a challenge at times to make sure you're in tack with new trends.  “It's a constantly changing environment so you always have to be prepared to adapt... whether it's music/copyright law or new technologies and platforms for apps that pop up, you always have to stay on your toes and take comfort in the chaos,” Pat explained.

Futuristically speaking, Rapchat intends on being the biggest music creation and network tool in the world. You can get ahead of the wave and download Rapchat in the Apple Store or Google Play today.
