Since moving to Atlanta from Prince George’s County, Maryland nearly a decade ago, photographer/videographer Cameron “Cam Kirk” Kirkland has become an important name in hip-hop by building an impressive portfolio featuring some of the hottest artist in the game. The DMV transplant has worked with all of Atlanta’s popular emcees including Young Thug, Gucci Mane, Young Scooter, Migos, Young Jeezy, 2 Chainz, T.I. and more. Cam Kirk has also had the opportunity to work with other big names in hip hop such as Jay Z, Drake, Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar.
Cam Kirk got into photography at an early age, helping his father with some projects. A busy college schedule was not enough to stop him from moving towards his passion. Cam Kirk continued to hone his talents and get new jobs while enrolled at Morehouse College as a business marketing major.
Talent and hard work has helped Cam Kirk get his work published in several major hip hop publications including Complex, Billboard Magazine, The Fader Magazine, XXL, The Source, Complex and many others.
Last summer, Cam Kirk turned heads with his one day “Trap God” exhibit. The photographer turned an abandoned church into a shrine for Atlanta’s most famous trap rapper, Gucci Mane. The exhibit featured dozens of previously unreleased pictures of the iconic rap star. He also used the space to shoot and direct the video for Young Thug’s “Again.”
Cam Kirk also released his first book at the top of last year. Yesterday’s Tomorrow: the Diary of Photographer, Cam Kirk features never before released photos and stories from the young photographer.
