Energetic, persistent and ready to conquer the world, Rapper Hefna Gwap’s grind never stops. From growing up in the Bay Area of Cali, to relocating to New York City, hitting SXSW’s stage in 2014, all while racking up downloads from his latest mixtape, Hefna Gwap is making his dreams come true. Debuting his newest project, Dezigna Scalez this past August, he’s a forerunner in the Hip Hop community. Keep your eyes open for this up and coming rapper at A3C Hip Hop Festival!
Tell me a little about yourself?
I grew up in East Palo Alto, Bay Area of California. Music has always been a passion of mine but I’m also passionate about hustling and entrepreneurship. I’ve always been eager to learn.
If you weren’t a rapper, what would you be?
If I weren’t a rapper I’d go to college, study biochemistry and manufacturer prescription pills. I would go down the right path, I like learning different things.
Lets talk about your new mixtape, Elegant Cavier : Dezigna Scalez, what was your muse to create this project?
My obstacles through life as a starving artist. At one point I was living in New York City with eleven other people in a one-bedroom apartment. Also, my two daughters (ages 3 and 5) are my motivation.
What is your own unique definition of Hip Hop?
Simple, it’s rhyming. They were rapping in BC times!
Who are you excited to meet or see perform at A3C Hip Hop Festival?
I’m very excited. I can’t wait to see everyone I don’t know perform, I really like underground artists like myself.
