Everyone knows in the music industry, the chances of getting famous and staying famous are very slim.  Some artists have been doing music for years and are finally being recognized, while some became overnight sensations. Here’s a list of the artists we thought were only going to last one song, but have surpassed expectations:

  1. Young Thug

Marijuana-enthusiasts everywhere were bopping to “Stoner” in 2013, when Young Thug premiered his first commercial single. The single played consistently on the radio and caught the attention of Gucci Mane, ultimately getting him signed to 1017 Brick Squad Records. Continuing to prove himself, the rapper has made hits like ”Milk Marie,” “Constantly Hating” and “Check.”

  1. Chief Keef

Chief Keef gained notoriety during the height of Chicago’s drill music scene when releasing popular mixtape Bang and Back From the Dead in 2011, which included songs such as “Bang,” “3Hunna” and “I Don’t Like.” In 2012, Keef found himself being highly coveted with many labels fighting for him. In December of 2012 Chief Keef debuted his album Finally Rich.

  1. Fetty Wap

Of everyone on the list, no one proved the public to be wrong about being a one hit wonder more than Fetty Wap. “Trap Queen” became a commercial hit in 2014 and it seemed for certain that he would not release another song so catchy.  Showing no signs of slowing down, Fetty has continued to release hit after hit with “679” and “Jimmy Choo.” Everything Fetty Wap touches seems to become the next anthem.

  1. Rae Sremmurd

Hearing “No Flex Zone” in 2014, it was catchy but it appeared that Rae Sremmurd would be another Hip-Hop duo you would never hear from again. Contrary to belief, in 2015 the duo debuted their first album SremmLife continuing to top the charts with songs such as “No Type,” “Throw Some Mo and “Come Get Her.”

  1. Bryson Tiller

‘Don’t’ brought in millions of Soundcloud plays in 2015, but it was another great song on the music sharing platform that could’ve easily not made it’s way to the mainstream. Eventually catching the eye of producer Timbaland, Bryson Tiller went on to release platinum selling album T R A P S O U L including hit songs “Exchange” and “Sorry Not Sorry.” Tiller, also known as Pen Griffey, is allegedly releasing another project soon entitled “She’s Got My Soul”
