A3C 2015 Artist: Bee Feral Explains How Dallas Pushes Him To Be The Best

Posted by Tai Saint-Louis on Sep 1

Where are you from?
Dallas, TX

How has your city and influenced your music?
Growing up in Dallas, the influence the city has on you is one that makes you want to chase your dream as hard you possibly can. Here, you can take a look in front of you and see lights, shows, and incredible people from all over the world that create the most amazing things. But, when you look behind you, you see the homicide, suicide, racism, and poverty. At that point, you realize it's something like Gotham city and every artist wants to be Batman in whatever way they do best.

What song, video or project are you most proud of to date?
I would definitely have to say that "Frontin'" is the song that I'm proudest of. It was the first song and music video that I released into the world, so it's like a shoutout to where it all started from. I'll never forget when I heard a crowd sing the lyrics I wrote back to me, so it'll always have a special place.

What do you enjoy about bout being a hip-hop artist?
My favorite part of being an artist are the performances. I absolutely love it. The adrenaline rush that comes right before going on stage, seeing the fans enjoy themselves, and being able to speak with everyone afterward really makes for the most fun. Without them we can't do what we really love most.

What can people expect from you over the next 6 months?
I'm currently working on the album right now and I'm really excited for this one. We don't have a set date for it, but you can expect some new songs, videos, and show dates between now and early 2016.

What advice would you give to yourself a few years ago?
Pick up those guitar & vocal lessons man. Keep your head up, keep dreaming and don't let the fear of a great task place you in a submission hold. That's what you're here for. Say something kid!

What do you most look forward to about A3C Festival & Conference?
Meeting the legends that paved the way for me to do what I do. Also, to prove myself on a totally different stage than I'm used to.
